social protection

Appropriately designed social protection programmes have protective, preventative, promotional and transformational functions. The Constitution of South Africa, Section 27 (1) (c), states that, "everyone has the right to have access to social security including, if they are unable to support themselves and their dependants, appropriate social assistance". We work together with our clients in South Africa and other developing countries to fulfil this right. We specialise in the provision of advice which is responsive to the needs, realities, conditions and livelihoods of intended beneficiaries; is financially and politically sustainable; and is capable of responding to rapidly changing social challenges such as the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

We specialise in:
  • social assistance programme design
  • G2P payment mechanisms
  • monitoring and evaluation
  • strategy and policy formulation
  • social insurance
