capacity building, training and mentoring
Quindiem seeks to assist regulators to enhance their internal capabilities and overcome capacity constraints through extensive training and mentoring interventions. We provide comprehensive training across the full spectrum of the regulatory process from development of legislation and regulation; analysis of returns; inspections; preventative and corrective measures; and market conduct standards. Units which are modular can be taught separately or as part of a sequence include:
- concepts of insurance, pensions, capital markets and microfinance
- IAIS core principles
- introduction to risk-based supervision and the concept of the regulatory ladder
- implementation of a risk-based supervisory approach and standards of a sound supervisory process
- valuating assets, liabilities and capital requirements
- assessing financial soundness of the insurers, pension schemes and microfinance organisations and understanding financial statements
- onsite inspections, offsite analysis, corrective interventions and the practical implementation of a risk based supervisory approach
- purpose and contents of statutory returns and industry reporting requirements and risk assessment
We also provide training and capacity building for private sector firms and industry associations. This training is focused on addressing regulatory issues faced by NBFIs in developing and transitional economies where insurance and pension's market instability, poor macroeconomic conditions and institutional failings negatively affect profits and long-term sustainability of insurance and pension's offerings. Our private sector training modules include:
- concepts and issues surrounding the development and provision of microinsurance products
- enterprise risk management and governance
- local markets and regulation
- purpose and contents of statutory returns and industry reporting requirements
- industry submissions and risk assessment
Capacity building and training is delivered through a variety of hands-on approaches and is tailored to meet the specific learning requirements of our clients. We also provide long-term implementation support in the form of monthly visits, interactive on-the-job training and regular offsite support provided by our consultants.
